2014 Where Have You Gone?

It’s hard to believe that is less than two weeks we will be counting down till the stroke of midnight and the New Year will be upon us.  This year has actually been a pretty good year.  I turned 30 this year which I celebrated by going to Disney World.  The kids moved from South Dakota to home, now there are just a short drive away.  I have loved every moment I have been able to spend with them since they moved back and look forward to many more to come.  I got to go back to my beloved Outer Banks, and got to introduce it to someone new.  I got to spend a week in Florida in November.  I got to see Garth Brooks in concert, which was amazing.  I still have a few extra pounds to lose and to find my “career” but I can do that next year.  I hope all of you had a good 2014, it’s hard to believe it’s almost over.  Hopefully 2015 will be a great year for everyone.

Southern Belle Reads: 2015= Civil War Year

Next year will make the 150 Anniversary of the End of the Civil War.  So with that in mind and with that fact that I have been watching North and South, and loving it, I have decided that 2015 will be the year of the Civil War.  I am going to pick 12 books that are civil war related and I will read one each month.  Here is my list so far…

1) North and South
2) Love and War
3) Heaven and Hell
4) Ruth’s Journey
5) Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker
6) The Spymistress
7) Women of Magnolia
8) All Things New
9) River Oak Plantation
10) The Rebel Wife
11) A Blue and Gray Christmas
12)

2 Things On My Mind Today

1) If you are Disney Crazy like me and especially about Disney World, then you probably heard about the crash that involved a Disney World Bus where the driver of the car that hit the bus passed away.  My thoughts go out to the Family and Friends of that person driving that car.  My thoughts also go out to the Driver of the Disney Bus, the people who were on board the bus, as well as the people in the other car involved.  Disney World is such a happy, magical place and for something tragic like this to happen there makes me very sad.

2) I’m mad that I missed the season premiere of Hart of Dixie last night.  I did not even know anything about it.  I know I can catch up on it later today but I have really been looking forward to this and I missed it.  Not goog, not good at all.

Celebrating Kids

This weekend was all about the kids.  There was a birthday party and Santa lunch.  That’s right the kids are officially six and one now.  It is hard to believe.  It seems like just yesterday the one year old was a little baby and I was seeing him for the first time.  Now he is a crawling fool who is trying to walk and who is always smiling.  His sister, the six year old, is becoming a little lady.  She’s already half way through Kindergarten and before we know it will be starting first grade.  These two kids got so much stuff for their Birthdays I think Santa may have a hard time finding something to bring them.  And now come April there will be another little girl to watch grow into a lady.

Southern Belle Reads: It’s In The Blood

As I have said before, after reading Gone Girl, I am going to need many romance novels to get me back into a happy place. Many people find it interesting that I like to read romance novels.  Well anyone who knows me knows that I am a hopeless romantic, so it really is not that strange.  Plus I think it is in my blood.  When I was a little girl my grandmother, rest her soul, loved to read Harlequin Romances.  I can remember as a young girl my grandma sitting at the kitchen table drinking her beer, praying her rosary, and then reading from a Harlequin Romance.  She also liked to read Nora Roberts but Harlequins seemed to be her favorites..  So it’s no wonder I enjoy a good romance novel, and from time to time a good Harlequin Romance novel.

Southern Belle Reads: Finally Gone

Well I can say I am finally done reading Gone Girl.  Thank goodness!  I can’t believe I wasted my time on that book.  I really don’t see what everyone is talking about when it comes to that book.  I know there are a lot of people out there that liked it, more power to them.  I feel like the time I spent reading it was time I will never get back and that I could have done something better with it.  Oh well, I chose to read it and I chose to continue reading it after I was not too fond of it, so I have to live with my choice to read it.  I’m going to need a lot of romance novels after that.
